Croatia’s second fixed line operator Portus has contracted next-generation network vendor NetCentrex to deploy enterprise and residential IP communications, and provide it with carrier pre-selection and wholesale services. IP services will include VoIP and VPN, as well as private dial plans and business trunking. In the second phase of roll out, NetCentrex will supply its MyCall Residential Services Suite to enable Portus to offer consumer broadband services.
Earlier this month Portus beat its start-up rival Optima Telekom to become the first operator to break the wireline monopoly of incumbent T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT). The telco, which is owned by the Split-based Elektromagic Corporation, soft-launched services over its H1 network in the first week of April and hopes to take a 5% share of Croatia’s fixed telephony market before year end by targeting the country’s flourishing corporate sector.
