PTCL reports 9.2% rise in profit

State-owned incumbent telco Pakistan Telecommunications Company Ltd (PTCL) has reported an increase of 9.2% in net profit to PKR21.23 billion for the nine months to the end of March 2005. Revenue stood at PKR57.93 billion at the same date, up 11%, while sales for the period grew by 5.9%. The telco attributed the positive financial results to strong subscriber growth; it added 765,000 new connections during the nine month period, compared to 281,000 in the same time last year.
