The board of fixed line carrier Hanaro Telecom has decided to forego the operator’s WiBro licence, just days before a deadline for its first licensing payment. The telco, which revealed that it was considering pulling out of WiBro earlier this week, plans to focus on its core broadband operations. Both KT Corp and SK Telecom own WiBro licences, having paid their USD116.5 million licence fees in March. The deployment of the technology is expected to begin in 2006.
