Telstra to cut jobs

25 Apr 2005

Australian incumbent Telstra has revealed plans to cut between 1,000 and 1,500 jobs by the end of this year, as part of a plan to fix falling profit margins. Analysts have predicted that between 600 and 800 workers will be laid off before June, with a similar number going in the second half of the year. Telstra said that around AUD100 million would be used for the redundancy provisions during the year. The government and business divisions will see the most cuts.
