According to research carried out by Screen Digest, Portuguese incumbent Portugal Telecom (PT) continues to dominate the country’s cable and DSL broadband markets. PT has 90% of the DSL market through its ISP unit Sapo, and controls 70% of the broadband cable segment through its TV Cabo cable division. Three other operators – Cabovisao, Bragatel and Pluricanal – control around 18% of the cable market between them, although Cabovisao accounts for 15% on its own.
