Maxis offers 3G for laptop users

25 Apr 2005

Malaysian cellco Maxis Communications has launched a service to provide 3G data cards to laptop users. The ‘Maxis 3G Connect’ package bundles a data card with free access to over 160 Wi-Fi hotspots and software allowing subscribers to roam between 3G, W-LAN and GPRS networks using a laptop. The launch pre-empts the company’s full 3G launch for mobile users scheduled for next month; Maxis says it has completed the first phase of UMTS network rollout across the Klang Valley, with over 300 base stations already operational.
