At the end of 2004 there were 2.45 million internet users in New Zealand, up 7% on the figure reported at the end of the previous year, and 165,000 broadband subscribers, of which 10,000 were cable broadband customers. By December 2004 New Zealand had approximately 900,000 dial-up subscribers and 450,000 host computers. However, wireless internet uptake is yet to take off: the total number of wireless internet users stood at just 15,000 of which Woosh Wireless accounted for 10,000 of the total.
