Hanaro Telecom is considering abandoning its WiBro licence in the face of a worsening fixed line climate. The telco will hold a meeting of its board of directors later today to decide on the future of the technology. If it decides to go ahead with the launch of WiBro services it will be required to pay a licence fee of KRW117 billion (USD116.5 million) to the regulator by 30 April.
