68.6 million mobile customers at end March

According to Brazilian regulator Anatel, there were 68.6 million mobile phone customers in Brazil at the end of March, up 39.6% in a year. Mobile operators added 1.22 million subscribers to their networks during the month of March alone. Of the total customers, 80.27% were pre-paid, with the remainder being signed up to contracts. Operators using GSM technology accounted for 38.34% of the total (26.31 million customers), with CDMA technology accounting for 29.73% (20.15 million) and TDMA 31.9% (21.9 million).
