20 Apr 2005

Hutchison’s 3 network has passed the 500,000 subscriber milestone, according to a report in Australian IT. The CEO of the company Victa McClelland, claims ARPU was around AUD88, of which AUD15 was on non-voice services (SMS accounted for AUD9 of the non-voice total). McClelland added that the company would begin rolling out HSPDA from early 2006, which will allow it to boost speeds to 2Mbps. Testing of the 3.5G platform is scheduled to begin later this year in partnership with Telstra.
