Regulator offers additional spectrum; seeks advice on returned UMTS licences

19 Apr 2005

German regulator RegTP has announced that it is to offer additional spectrum to the country’s GSM operators. It has persuaded the defence ministry to release spectrum in the range 880-890MHz / 925-935MHz (10MHz paired) for commercial use. The regulator has also called for cellcos and other interested parties to comment on the future allocation and use of UMTS frequencies; MVNO Mobilcom returned its 3G licence in December 2003.
