Telekom Malaysia reported yesterday that it expects the total cost of rolling out its 3G network to be ‘significantly’ less than its previous estimate of MYR4.3 billion (USD1.13 billion). Telekom says it is on course to launch full commercial 3G services under the brand name Celcom 3G on 17 May. It is spending an initial MYR300 million to launch services simultaneously in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Melaka. Its long term national investment plan takes it up to the year 2020.
