Telecom Fiji offers to buy out workers

18 Apr 2005

Telecom Fiji has sent packs containing details on voluntary redundancy packages to its entire 1,500 workforce as its looks to streamline itself to better compete in a deregulated environment. The decision to mail details of the redundancy proposals, which includes the offer of generous packages to all permanent workers from the management down to cleaning staff, has caused concern among the Fiji Telecommunications Workers Union however, as the trade body claims it is yet to accept all the terms and conditions of the awards.
