Cegetel goes for triple-play

13 Apr 2005

The French media and utilities group Vivendi has announced that its domestic telecoms operator Cegetel is to launch a ‘triple-play’ service combining television, high speed internet and voice telephony services. According to Dow Jones Newswires, Cegetel aims to cover 40% of the population with its new ADSL2+ broadband internet network by the end of the year. The firm will undercut competitors such as France Télécom’s Wanadoo unit by charging EUR29.99 a month for triple-play services; Wanadoo and its closest rival Free claim almost 65% of the French internet market between them.
