Tunisia to forge Sea-Me-We link

Tunisia has begun work on a 102km submarine fibre-optic cable link joining Sidi Salem in the north of Tunisia to Palermo, in southern Italy. The link is part of the wider 18,500km Sea-Me-We network that aims to deliver a tenfold improvement in capacity for those countries involved. Tunisie Telecom is contributing USD30 million to the project which is expected to cost USD600 million.
