Telecom launches limited video over 3G service

11 Apr 2005

Telecom New Zealand has launched a limited video content service over its new 3G network, as it strives to secure a foothold ahead of a rival UMTS launch from Vodafone in July this year. Telecom customers owning a Sanyo 7400 handset can now watch three-minute video clips of news, sports, music and other entertainment with the new service, which is free for a limited time only. Telecom launched a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network in November 2004, while Vodafone is opting for the W-CDMA platform.
