Orange to spend EUR200 million on EDGE

11 Apr 2005

Orange is to invest EUR200 million in France to upgrade its 2G network with high speed EDGE technology. Under the two-year investment programme the French cellco plans to introduce advanced data services, such as internet access and TV content, to 85% of the population and to 90% of companies with more than 50 staff. The introduction of EDGE-based services will also reduce the operator’s reliance on 3G mobile technology.
