The Chinese government is planning to invest CNY1.4 billion (USD169 million) this year on the rollout of an IPv6 backbone network which will connect the country’s major cities. The government intends to launch the network next year and is co-operating on the project with all five main telcos – China Telecom, China Netcom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China TieTong. The first commercial IPv6 in China is due to begin commercial operations next month.
