Primus to roll out ADSL network

7 Apr 2005

Australian telco Primus Telecom has revealed plans to roll out its own ADSL network, and is currently awaiting approval from the regulator, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). The announcement comes hot on the heels of a similar announcement from rival telco Optus yesterday. The operators’ plans mean that for the first time, fixed line services will be offered on a major scale over a network other than Telstra’s. Primus has already begun upgrading 200 telephony exchanges with new high capacity DSL equipment; an additional 100 exchanges are scheduled to be revamped over the next year.
