Fujitsu and Alcatel join forces in China

Equipment vendors Fujitsu and Alcatel have announced that they are teaming up to produce 3G networks for the Chinese market. The Japanese and French companies, which are already partners in the Evolium joint venture, say they are targeting a 15% share of the country’s high speed mobile market. Meanwhile, a report from Analysys says that the fixed line operators China Telecom and China Netcom will invest a combined CNY27.2 billion (USD3.28 billion) on equipment during 2005, with both companies concentrating on the expansion of broadband services.
