VIPnet launches video calling

5 Apr 2005

Croatia’s second largest cellco VIPnet has launched its first video calling offering – imaginatively titled ‘Video Call’ – over its recently rolled out UMTS network and is hoping to entice customers with free use of the service until 1 July. Launched in January, VIPnet’s 3G service currently has coverage of Zagreb, Split, Rijeka and Osijek, with the cities of Karlovac and Dubrovnik due to be added by the end of the month. The operator, wholly owned by Telekom Austria’s wireless unit Mobilkom Austria, has also slashed the price of its multimedia messaging (MMS) service for a limited time, allowing its users to send an MMS for HRK1.83, a 50% discount, until the same date.
