Service revenue slow down in Dutch mobile market

5 Apr 2005

According to Telecompaper, mobile service revenues in the Dutch market have only limited growth opportunites in 2005, while the demand for mobile packet data services is set to go from strength to strength. Although service revenues are expected to grow by around 2% to EUR5.8 billion in 2005, and to EUR5.9 billion in 2006, mobile data services are expected to generate 16.1% of the market’s turnover, up from 13.4% in 2005 and 12.3% in 2003. Telecompaper believes that the main reasons for the slow service revenue growth include operators being bound by regulatory agreements with OPTA and NMA to drop their mobile termination rates and high price competition.
