Eight companies apply for various licences

The Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) has received applications from eight companies for various licences in the fixed line market. Comtec Integration Systems and Lanbase Communications have applied for internet backbone and gateway services licences, with Lanbase also looking to gain a leased circuit resale licence. Comtec Training and Management Services, KTIG Consulting and Africa Spinoff are all in the running for local loop licences, while Comtec and Africa Spinoff have also applied for Private Data Network Operator (PDNO) concessions, Finally, Callkey and EDP are lining up for ISP licences, and Scandinavia Express Kenya hopes to gain a regional courier operator’s licence.
