Indian ISP Dishnet has announced plans to launch WiMAX services within two months in its home city of Chennai. If the launch goes ahead as planned, Dishnet will be the first company to provide the service in the country. Around 150 Wi-Fi users in Chennai have participated in a trial of Dishnet’s new service, and the company says it is currently engaged in rolling out 6,000 Wi-Fi hotspots; it hopes to bring WiMAX technology to 38 cities across India.
