Government plans digital expansion

The Brazilian government has revealed plans to install more than 5,500 telecentres for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by the end of 2006. The first phase of the project, expected to be completed by July or August this year, will see the launch of 670 telecentres across the country. Brazilian micro and small businesses association Sebrae has provided BRL1 million (USD370,000) to help fund the project.
