Telkom eyes up Telkom Kenya

21 Mar 2005

South African operator Telkom is looking into entering the Kenyan market, possibly by acquiring a stake in Kenya’s incumbent telco Telkom Kenya. Kenya had been planning to open up its telecoms market by privatising Telkom and licensing a second national operator (SNO), but this has since been put on hold after the regulatory board was dissolved last week. South Africa’s Telkom said it was also looking at entering Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
