67.4 million mobile customers

According to Brazilian regulator Anatel there were 67.4 million mobile phone users in the country at the end of February this year, up 41% in a year; 811,101 customers were added in February alone. Of the total, 80.3% were pre-paid users, with the remainder being on contract. GSM operators claimed 34.8 million customers – a 36.8% market share, with the CDMA market share slipping to 29.4% (19.8 million subscribers) and TDMA operators claiming 33.3% of the market (22.5 million customers).
