BT to axe rogue diallers

16 Mar 2005

BT is introducing new measures to curb the practise of ‘rogue dialler’ services that have defrauded thousands of computer users in the UK. The incumbent will offer all its customers a free software download that stops PCs dialling expensive premium rate or ILD numbers that are not on an approved list. It is also promoting an ‘early warning’ system to ring customers and alert them of unusual call patterns.
