A mission against spam

16 Mar 2005

30 Japanese companies – including KDDI Corp, NTT DoCoMo, Vodafone KK, Internet Initiative Japan, Panasonic Network Services and Plala Networks – have joined forces to launch the Japan E-mail Anti-abuse Group (JEAG), which will fight against the high level of spam in the country. The group will examine and implement technological countermeasures against e-mail abuse.

Meanwhile KDDI has contracted Motorola to deploy its CDMA2000 1X radio access network, in a deal worth USD150 million. The deployment is due to begin in 2006 and will initially provide for services in the 2GHz band.
