Mobile phone manufacturer Samsung has unveiled the world’s first mobile phone with an integrated 7-megapixel camera. The launch comes as a potential threat to digital camera manufacturers such as Xanon Inc and Sony Corp, although this will depend on how popular the new model is; some users see the existing 4 or 5-megapixel camera phones as good enough to take a decent photo.
Meanwhile Samsung looks set to regain the number two position in the global mobile phone market at the end of the first quarter of 2005, predicting double digit growth in sales. Its two main rivals, Motorola and Nokia, are expected to see handset sales fall during the period.
