The winner of Oman’s second mobile licence, the Omani-Qatari Telecommunications Company, will launch commercial services tomorrow under the brand name Nawras. The first phase of the company’s network rollout covers the country’s largest population centres; it plans to extend coverage to several more regions in the short term. Nawras, which won its licence in June 2004, was set up as a joint venture between Qatar Telecom (Q-Tel) and Denmark’s TDC.
