Intercable, a cable TV and broadband internet service provider in Venezuela, says it will launch a VoIP service in July using equipment supplied by Nortel Networks. Intercable is investing a sixth of its USD30 million investment budget for 2005 on the platform, and hopes to activate between 15,000 and 20,000 IP lines in the first twelve months of operations. The company ended 2004 with 350,000 TV and 30,000 broadband internet subscribers. It hopes to end 2005 with 420,000 TV subscribers and 60,000 broadband accounts.
