Broadband take-up booms

11 Mar 2005

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the take-up of broadband services in the country surged during 2004, with total subscribers reaching 1.55 million at the end of the year, an increase of 121.6% on the 2003 figure. ADSL has emerged as the dominant platform, with 1.05 million customers at the same date. The ACCC attributed the growth to widespread price cuts.
