ComReg urged to get tough with eircom

7 Mar 2005

Consumer group IrelandOffline has criticised a consultation document from telecoms regulator ComReg, which allows eircom to take four weeks to install a line or 50% applications and up to twelve months to install a line for 5% of consumers. Moreover the pressure group has criticised the EUR7,000 cut off fee (whereby eircom meets the cost of a new line installation up to the maximum EUR7,000), claiming that 0.13% of installations currently go above this figure and that to charge more would be in contravention of eircom’s Universal Service Obligation.
