According to the Taipei Times, the Chinese regulator, the MII, is to submit a final proposal on the introduction of 3G services some time this year to the State Council, the country’s highest governing body. In an interview in Beijing at the end of last week, a director from the MII said that the number of 3G licences issued will be ‘less than previously estimated’ and that coverage area requirements of the licences may be limited to specific regions, rather than the entire population.
