Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), Colombia’s third largest local telephony provider, signed up 108,200 broadband internet users by the end of 2004. The Medellín based telco says it plans to spend COP20 billion (USD8.6 million) this year to expand its broadband coverage and range of services. The planned investment is on top of the COP29.4 billion that it invested in its broadband operations last year. The company has also begun offering ‘triple play’ (CATV, internet connectivity and IP telephony) services, claiming 13,000 subscribers at the end of January.
