Chunghwa announces plans for IPTV launch

Taiwan’s dominant telecoms service provider Chunghwa Telecom is to launch an IPTV service, having signed a deal with set-top box solution provider StaBox Technology for the initial supply of 430,000 units by 2006. The Setabox solution will support a wide range of audio/video formats including AAC, wma, MP3, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, VC-1 and H.264, although starting this July SetaBox will also provide a new set-top box equipped with VOD, VoIP and video conferencing technology.
