Train tickets and phones overlap for DoCoMo

23 Feb 2005

Japanese cellco NTT DoCoMo has launched a new service, enabling customers to use their mobile handsets as train tickets, as part of a plan to transform the mobile phone into a device that can be used for almost everything in day-to-day life. The service is based on Sony’s smartcard FeliCa technology; around two million FeliCa equipped handsets have been sold in Japan to date.
