ACCC cracks down on spam

23 Feb 2005

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has announced plans to crack down on frauds involving spam emails and the internet. The investigation will involve 76 agencies from 25 countries and is aimed at uncovering the use of spam emails to gain personal information from individuals such as bank details and passwords to various online accounts. The operation will last for just 48 hours, following which the ACCC will analyse the results and pass them on to the relevant parties for action.
