Vimpelcom gets 13 million new mobile numbers

21 Feb 2005

Russian mobile operator Vimpelcom has been allocated 13 million new mobile phone numbers by the regulator. The delayed allocation follows a severe shortage of phone numbers for the cellco which forced it to slow down new sales in the Moscow area last year. The shortage was due to Vimpelcom’s rapid growth in addition to a large scale government restructuring. The operator says its numbering needs have now been met in full.
