Enel left up in the air over Wind?

18 Feb 2005

Italian power utility Enel says it has received no formal offers for its telecoms division Wind, leaving it with few options other than to plough on with an initial public offering. US private equity firm Blackstone Group and Weather Investment, a consortium comprising Orascom Telecom Holding owners the Sawaris family, French private equity group IPE and American investor Wilbur Ross are believed to be interested in acquiring the operator. Enel values Wind at EUR13 billion.
