easyMobile founder predicts 10% market share on low-cost model

Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the founder of easyGroup, says that his new easyMobile start-up cellco could garner 10% of the British mobile market, and indeed each of the twelve markets in which it plans to launch, by targeting low-cost users whom he claims are not best served by current network operators. Citing the success of Telmore, the Danish unit bought by TDC which pioneered the business model, Haji-Ioannou said that he hoped to garner around five million mobile users in the UK – a figure roughly equivalent to Virgin Mobile’s current subscriber base in the country.
