Azercell announces USD76 million investment: signs OEM mobile content agreement

17 Feb 2005

Azercell Telecom, which provides mobile communications services covering 73% of Azerbaijan’s territory and 95% of the population, says it will invest USD76 million in 2005 in improving its network and services. The announcement coincides with the signing of an OEM agreement with Russian software developer CBOSS and Adamind, which provides rich content adaptation and enhancement software for MMS, content services and VAS markets. Azercell is looking to bolster its position in the mobile internet market and will take delivery of Adamind’s MediaSpire ™ media adapter and the CBOSSmms centre to extend its MMS content capabilities. The cellco currently has over 1.3 million subscribers in Azerbaijan, where it competes with rival cellco Bakcell.
