Net income up at CECT

16 Feb 2005

The Chinese equipment manufacturer Qiao Xing Universal Telephone has announced that 2004 net income at its CEC Telecom handset unit is expected to be USD13 million, 40% up on the 2003 figure. Qiao Xing says that while many Chinese vendors saw revenues fall in 2004 due to the increased competition and resulting cuts in handset selling prices, CECT’s sales increased by around 25% compared with 2003. The firm claims that it climbed twelve places in the league table of mobile handset suppliers in China, and is now ranked sixth among the local players.
