Mobile phone portability soars

In the first month since Estonia introduced mobile number portability (MNP), some 4,550 customers have taken the opportunity to switch operators, with another 2,750 cellphone users on a waiting list to transfer their numbers to a different provider, according to Ando Rehemaa, director general of the national Communications Board. At the end of September 2004 the country was home to 1,193,300 mobile subscribers, up 207,140 in twelve months.
