Hutchison reports AUD552 million loss

Hutchison Telecommunications Australia has reported wider losses of AUD552 million for the full year 2004, compared to AUD409.8 million in 2003. The company remained untroubled however, claiming 879,000 mobile customers at the same date, up from 626,476 six months earlier, with its 3G arm 3 accounting for 453,000 of the total, up from 87,000 a year earlier; its 2G unit Orange claimed 426,000, up from 325,000. Monthly ARPU for the company as a whole stood at AUD68 in 2004, up from AUD56 the previous year. The company expects to see the 3G market in Australia grow significantly in 2005 and says it will break even on the EBITDA level by the end of the year.
