Hungary’s dominant telco Matáv has revealed a 1% drop in revenues for the full year 2004 to HUF601.4 billion, while EBITDA fell by 11% to HUF222.9 billion. Group operating profit for the year dropped to HUF85.3 billion, while net cash from operating activities decreased to HUF189.8 billion. The telco attributed the fall in revenues to a decline in domestic and international traffic; revenues from this sector dropped by 15.9%. This was offset by a rise in broadband revenues, however, which grew by 20.8% to limit the fall in fixed line revenues as a whole to 7%. Mobile revenues at Matáv’s wireless unit T-Mobile Hungary grew by 3.5% in the year. At the end of December Matáv claimed 203,654 broadband subscribers and four million mobile users.
