Broadband could surpass dial-up in 2005

According to a study by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS), the number of broadband users in Chile is expected to overtake dial-up connections during 2005, to account for around 50% of all internet accounts by the end of the year. Broadband subscribers grew by around 50% during 2004 to end the year at over two million, around 14% of the population. The government has also outlined Wi-Fi technology as a key growth area for 2005, while e-commerce is also expected to expand.
