Five pre-qualify for wireless auction

The telecoms regulator of Trindad and Tobago has pre-qualified five companies for the country’s forthcoming wireless spectrum auction. Cingular Wireless, NatTel, Jamaica’s Digicel, Telekom Caribe and LaqTel will compete for two licences in the 800MHz and 1900MHz ranges; the concessions will be non-technology specific. According to the timetable, the tender framework should be in place by early March, ready for the auction proper later that month
