24 Jan 2005

Irish regulator ComReg said on Friday that it plans to force mmO2 and Vodafone to open up their mobile networks to rival wireless operators. ComReg said that it will act ‘immediately’ to bring more competition into the Irish mobile market, which Vodafone and O2 currently control around 95% of. An EU ruling has backed the regulator’s plans; Vodafone said it will appeal against the move.
